From the Editor…
Over the holiday period I managed to catch up on some quality time… in front of the TV. Yes, I enjoyed my usual fix of Fast’n’Loud, Street Outlaws and all the usual automotive TV, but one particular show caught my attention – The Grand Tour (on Amazon TV)…
In particular it was the 2-part Beach Buggy special, which drew me in as I was quite surprised to see a mainstream show making such a big deal about the good old VW Buggy. Following the show, a little digging around led me to Dave Fisher of Kingfisher Kustoms, who was responsible for assembling the three Buggies driven by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond across the Namibian Desert (and coast).
In case you didn’t already know, Dave Fisher has been building Buggies since their heyday, hence it was great to find that he was involved in this TV Buggy revival. It was also good to learn that the TV show had actually made a good job of their research by ending up with the right man for the job!
Anyway, if you haven’t seen it, log on to Amazon TV and check it out. Love it or hate it, it’s definitely helped to boost a niche part of the VW scene by raising the profile of the humble Buggy.
In other news… here’s another action-packed issue filled with some cool cars, some rarities and even a beautiful classic Porsche, too!
