“This months cover star has a great story, which I hope you’ll enjoy…“
I think I particularly enjoyed this feature as, like the current owner, Mike Downham, the car was inspirational for me back in late ’80s and early ’90s. Of course, Ritchie King had already built some particularly Kool Karmann Ghias and had made quite a name for himself by the time Brett Hawksbee approached him regarding modifying and painting this T-Top Ghia concept, hence I’m stoked to be able to run the feature on this truly iconic car, which was built by some legends of the UK New Wave VW scene!
I won’t spoil the feature, but I should explain that this Ghia has hardly changed over the past 28 years, and the paintwork is totally untouched – amazing. Anyway, you can read all about it on page 24, where you’ll note that Brett Hawksbee has kindly written his recollection of the project/build ‘back in the day’ – awesome!
Before I leave you to enjoy this issue, I wanted to remind you that we love to see your projects and hear from you, so please feel free to drop us a line if you have a great story, or have perhaps just finished a fresh project for the summer season.
